Compliance Executive
Job Description
- You should have at least a bachelor’s degree in law, or Law & Management and any other subject together with a recognised compliance qualification.
- Have at least 3 years experience of working in a compliance function.
Responsibility
- Assist in on-boarding new clients and matters and ensuring that all details are correct in accordance with regulatory standards and the firm’s AML/CFT policies.
- Conduct due diligence verifications on new and existing clients, review KYC documentation and undertaking AML and sanctions searches on clients and escalate any issues to the MLRO.
- Identify and diagnose high risk areas where compliance input is required.
- Carry out checks and internet searches including but not limited to sanction lists.
- Attend to queries in relation to KYC/CDD.
- Flag to relevant parties any suspicious transactions and clients.
- Provide a high standard of service with regards to compliance tasks.
- Liaise with the other internal departments and maintain good working relationships.
- Review any changes to the client information which may have an impact on client or matter risk and dealing with these in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that client information is kept accurate and up to date.
- Review the firm’s policies and ensuring that they are up to date and in line with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct in-house training on the firm’s regulatory requirements.
- Follow up on queries from relevant authorities (local and foreign) in relation to compliance issues.
- Assist in providing responses to authorities.
- Assist in preparing reports or completing surveys.
- Maintaining proper and accurate record of KYC status of client files.
- Document filing, updating client information on relevant internal system.
- Any other cognate duties that may from time to time be required which are appropriate to the role and business requirements.
Requirements
- Experience in KYC verification.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels both inside and outside the firm.
- Must be able to prioritise tasks, self-manage and contribute to the effective coordination of compliance duties and to follow up.
- Must have demonstrable integrity, initiative and organisational skills.
- Must be able to establish and maintain professional rapport with clients and regulatory bodies.
- Must be fluent in English and French.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving, demanding, high-pressure environment and deliver in a timely manner with regards to set deadlines.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work well as an individual and from their own initiative as well as being able to work in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
