Lifetime Achievement Award: A legacy of success

We are proud to announce that Iqbal Rajahbalee, co-Founder of BLC Robert & Associates, has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Chambers Africa Awards 2024. A distinction that testifies of his outstanding body of works for multiple decades in Mauritius and a reflection of the esteem in which he is held.

“His ‘tremendous track record’, as stated in Chambers Global, is considered by observers “as one of the reasons why he is held in such high esteem by clients”. A reputation that precedes the one who has been offering his valuable advices on a number of diverse cross-border finance transactions, including asset financing and investment funds both for the public and private sectors. Iqbal Rajahbalee specialises in Financial Services, Compliance and Dispute Resolution and acts as  Senior Counsel with some 40 years of practice at the Bar of Mauritius.

One of the key players in the development of Global Business Sector in Mauritius,  Iqbal Rajahbalee served as the first Executive Director of the Mauritius Offshore Business Activities Authority. From 2001-2005, he was appointed the first Chief Executive of the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius. For more than 10 years, he served at the Attorney General‘s Office, Ministry of Justice rising to the position of Assistant Solicitor General.

Over the last decade, Iqbal Rajahbalee’s practice at the Mauritian Bar has been essentially directed to commercial litigation. He has acted as Counsel to a number of multinational and local major companies before the Supreme Court in Mauritius –  in both local and international arbitration. His extensive experience has brought him to stand as expert witness with regards to Mauritian Corporate Law before the High Court of England and Wales and before the High Court in the Republic of Singapore.
